Two nonbinary cowboys, Gus and Billy, are down on their luck and traveling through the Wild West in Them Cowboys, an award-winning script written by UC Santa Cruz student Chris Hernandez. On their journey, they learn about a fabled treasure hidden by the legendary outlaw Bungus Balloo. Seeking money to build their dream life together, they go on a whimsical cowboy quest to find it and run into some hiccups along the way.
ABOUT THE AWARD
UCSC undergraduate student Chris Hernandez is the 2025 Dharma Grace Creative Writing Award recipient for their script, Them Cowboys. A senior and an Environmental Studies and Theater Arts double major, Hernandez has been involved in multiple aspects of the Department of Performance, Play & Design.
Established in 2005, the endowed Dharma-Grace Foundation Creative Writing Award Fund provides an award for an outstanding script written by a junior or senior undergraduate student (from any discipline) who is in good academic standing. ADMISSION

– Doors are scheduled to open 30 minutes prior to event start time.
– Ticket holders not seated at least 5 minutes before the advertised start time may forfeit their ticket/seat and no refund will be issued.

– Parking by permit or ParkMobile.
– Arts Lot #126 is the closest parking lot to the event.
– Visitors with DMV placards or plates may park for free in DMV spaces, Medical spaces, or ParkMobile spaces without additional payment, or in timed zones for longer than the posted time.
