Adults and Teens (14+) Learn to Ride Class (VTA)

April 28 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

An in-person, in-depth, on-bike, outdoor bicycle class covering basic and advanced bicycling skills.

Is learning to ride a bike something you have always wanted to do? But maybe you a re you afraid to fall? Or maybe you think it’ll be too hard? Or perhaps you don’t know who can help you. We have the perfect class for you.

Join us at our adult and teen (ages 14+) learn-to-ride class and learn to balance, pedal, and roll. We have excellent instructors. They are friendly and patient, and they have taught more than 200 people to ride. Those who attend will get a bicycling prize!

The class is held outdoors in the Berryessa Transit Center Parking lot at https://goo.gl/maps/fVTKaVZgM8XuTYHd6 (if it is NOT raining ) or in the nearby parking garage (if it is raining).

Prerequisites:

  1. Able to balance on one foot for 5 seconds
  2. 14 or older

We will cover different aspects of riding comfortably and safely to prevent falls – including helmet fit, bicycle fit, a pre-ride check, getting on and off the bike, and more.

Please bring a functional bicycle if you have one (see local bike shops if maintenance/repairs need to be done). If you or your teen need to borrow one, please include their height information (e.g. 5 ft 1 in or 155 cm).

We have a limited number of bikes available to rent for $30 for the class in the height range 4 ft 6 in – 5 ft 11 in.

You can also see local bike shops for renting a well-fitting bike.

Parents/guardians do not need to be on site with their teens.

Please add a ticket for each participant (separate names).

This class is provided to the public for free with funding from 2016 Measure B courtesy of VTA.
