Founded in 2017, In Lak’ech Dance Academy is a Queer, Trans, and Ally Bachata & Salsa Dance Academy, based in Oakland CA. The Directors, Angelica Medina and Jahaira Fajardo, offer opportunities for growth and healing through dance and are actively building an inclusive, loving community of talented dancers. They would like to create visibility by training strong Queer performers, as they believe that visibility increases awareness & open mindedness – which has a positive impact on the LGBTQIA+ community as a whole.This festival aims to highlight and celebrate Queer/Trans dancers and their Allies. It includes two full days of dance – workshops, Bachata performance challenge, performances, pool party, social dancing until 4am and more!

Join Alex and Desiree for their first performance challenge at the QALDF, bringing you the kind of Bachata we know you like! You’ll get to spend 4 hours with them, learn a choreography, and perform on stage with Alex and Desiree themselves!!!
Focusing on the joy of dance, you’ll not only sharpen your technical abilities as a Bachata dancer, learning the AnD style, but you’ll also get to develop your artistry by leveling up your stage performance.
Let the Bachata spirit hit you as you find your flow, work your body movement, and have a great time doing what you love with Alex and Desiree!
